Through self-love, determination, and consistency, I transformed from struggling with PCOS to thriving and inspiring others.

My story

Hi, I’m Dr. Thasneem (PT & DT), and I’m thrilled to share my journey with you. As a Masters-educated physiotherapist, clinical nutritionist, and fitness coach, my life’s work is centered around helping others achieve their health and wellness goals. My passion for health, wellness, and neuro rehabilitation is what drives me every day to learn, grow, and inspire.

My Journey from Lean PCOS to Thriving Health:

At 19, I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). Initially categorized as “lean PCOS,” my health soon took a challenging turn. Doctors prescribed oral contraceptive pills (OCPs), which unfortunately caused gradual weight gain. Over time, I transitioned to “fat PCOS,” experiencing irregular periods and other distressing symptoms. Eventually, I was diagnosed with diabetes, with an alarming HbA1c level of 9.5.

The real turning point came when I faced the heartbreak of a miscarriage. Determined to take back control of my health, I embarked on a transformative journey.

I expanded my expertise into the realms of clinical nutrition and fitness coaching, recognizing that true wellness requires a holistic approach. As a Clinical Nutritionist, I learned how to fuel the body with the right nutrients, and as a Fitness Coach, I discovered the joy of movement and the power of physical transformation.

My Journey from Lean PCOS to Thriving Health

At 19, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that initially placed me in the “lean” category. But as time went on, my health took a challenging turn. Despite maintaining a healthy weight, I began experiencing irregular periods and other unsettling symptoms. The oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) prescribed by my doctors, intended to manage the condition, instead led to gradual weight gain, eventually transitioning me into what’s known as “fat” PCOS.

The real wake-up call came when I developed diabetes and faced the heart-wrenching experience of a miscarriage. These were the moments that ignited a deep determination within me to take control of my health and reclaim my life.

Nutrition Awakening

Although I was already a physiotherapist, I came to the realization that exercise alone wasn’t enough to manage PCOS effectively. Nutrition, I discovered, was the missing piece of the puzzle. Frustrated by the lack of proper guidance available to me, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Self-Research and Overseas Inspiration

Although I was already a physiotherapist, I came to the realization that exercise alone wasn’t enough to manage PCOS effectively. Nutrition, I discovered, was the missing piece of the puzzle. Frustrated by the lack of proper guidance available to me, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Understanding the Basics

As I began to connect the dots, it became clear that a holistic approach was essential. I learned that a 60:40 balance—focusing 60% on nutrition and 40% on exercise—was key to managing PCOS and achieving overall wellness. This balance became the cornerstone of my personal health strategy.

Ongoing Progress

Today, my journey continues as I work towards maintaining a healthy, age-appropriate weight and managing my PCOS symptoms effectively. Each day brings new challenges and victories, big and small, and I celebrate each one as a step closer to thriving health. This journey has not only transformed my health but also deepened my understanding of the intricate connection between nutrition, fitness, and well-being. It’s a path of continuous learning and growth, and I’m committed to sharing what I’ve learned to help others navigate their own health journeys.

Supplements and Support

Part of my journey involved exploring PCOS-specific supplements and understanding their role in managing the condition. Over time, with careful attention to my diet, exercise, and supplement regimen, I saw a remarkable improvement in my health. My HbA1c levels, a measure of blood sugar control, dropped from 9.6 to 6, and eventually to an impressive 5.4.
